Origin story
We threw out the rulebook on purpose
One question wouldn't go away: what would it take to build the fastest, longest golf ball ever made?
Recruit a long driver
We brought on a world-ranked professional long driver as our official prototype tester.
Throw out the rules
We set out to build a ball faster and longer than any conforming list allows. Non-conforming by design.
Beat every ball we tested
We tested prototype variations against the fastest, longest balls on the market and only stopped when one design outperformed them all in our testing.
The name stuck
Through testing, everyone called it The Prototype. Now it is ready for the public.
FAQ
Straight answers
Is it conforming?
No. The Prototype exceeds the conforming rules for velocity and distance. This golf ball was designed to pursue the extremes of speed and distance.
Who should play it?
Golfers with high swing speeds, the golfers scrambles save for the last drive, and anyone chasing the limits of speed and distance. See the fit check above.
What is 120 compression?
Compression measures how much a ball deforms at impact. Most tour balls sit well below 120. A 120-compression ball is the maximum firmness and is designed to reward high swing speeds.
Can I use it in a tournament?
Not in any competition that requires a conforming ball, which includes most club, amateur, and professional events.
How does it feel?
At the high end of firm. At 120 compression, expect a hotter, harder feel off the face than a soft or tour ball, especially at slower swing speeds and around the greens.
Does more compression automatically mean more distance for every golfer?
No. Higher compression generally pays off at higher club head speeds. Slower swings may not compress the ball fully and may see smaller gains, or none.
What testing was conducted?
Our world-ranked professional long-driver tester hit prototype variations against the fastest and longest balls on the market. Testing was conducted with launch monitors in indoor and outdoor environments to measure speed, spin rate, and distance. We only finished when one design outperformed every ball we tested in speed and distance.
